A Lil' Boy's Journey to Live….

update

Sooo… today we went to CHOP to see the Cardiologist.  The appt. went ok.  Riley hasn’t gained much weight.  He is only 9lbs. 13oz.  So after surgery we are going to try going back to the original formula, at a higher calorie, and add a reflux med.
Dr. Szwast did share with me that Riley was a big part of the wkly meeting the Cardiac team has.  They are discussing possibly listing Riley for a heart transplant.  Nothing has been decided, yet.  First we need to get through surgery on Monday.  Everything depends on his veins, and how well the repair goes.  I told the doctor we will do whatever it takes to keep Riley alive!  Transplant is huge, but we will deal with it.  I will blog more about it when we know more.
Make sure, starting Monday, to check Chris’s page.  She will update while we are in the hospital.
Thank you for your support…and….pray!!!!!!!!!

Aunt Terry

Aunt Terry came for a visit today! She brought a Boost for me, and some love for Riley!!

Pop-Pop

Today I ask that we extend our prayers to include Riley’s Pop-Pop.  My Dad fell yesterday from a ladder while trying to clean the outside of his house.  He was taken to Virtua Hospital, but he had to many injuries, and the transfered him to Cooper Trauma.  He has a fractured right ankle, right hip, right elbow, left leg, and a compressed fracture in his spine.
My Dad is the rock of our family.  I’m mean that in every way possible.  He is a strong man/father that takes care of everyone else.  I think this is the first time he truly will need help.  I know he will get through this, but it will be a long road.  He is having surgery today on his hip, and within the next 7-10 days surgeries to fix his other fractures.  He already know that he will need a wheelchair for awhile, and will go to rehab from Cooper.  I know he won’t be there long, though, because he will not let anything hold him down.
He did have one request today before he went into surgery.  He ask the doctor to get him in a wheelchair, and to Children’s Hospital for the 14th.  You see….he is still trying to be the glue that holds the pieces together!
So in the end…please add my Father to your prayers for Riley.  My family needs to get out from under this dark cloud!

surgery

Riley’s surgery has been scheduled for July 14th.  We don’t know a time, yet, and may not know until the night before.
Riley is doing ok, right now.  Of course there are things to watch for between now and the surgery.
Yeah….I’m talking to my doctor Thurs. to see if he can give me something to try and better handle the situation.  It is literally ripping my heart into pieces.  I can’t get the unimaginable out of my head, thanks to the doctors, and it leaves a permanant lump in my throat.  I can’t imagine when the actually surgery day is here.
I told Riley’s doctor that I just need to know that he will come home after surgery, and all she could say is that there are things stacked against us, like his pressures are up.  That wasn’t what I wanted/needed to hear.  Needless to say I am trying my hardest to believe that he will defeat the odds, again, and he will come home, and that the surgery will be successful.
I have decided to get Riley Baptized before the surgery.  We had it planned at the church for July 26th, but we are going to have it done at the hospital before he goes in for surgery.  I just feel that it needs to be done.
Please continue to pray for Riley.  He has to get through this!
P.S.  Thank you to everyone who signed the guest book over the wkend.  It meant alot to see that so many people cared.  Now we just need God to hear all of our prayers!
